Our monthly meeting will be held at the Microsoft Greater PA Office in Malvern, PA on Wednesday, May 18 from 5:30-8:30. Refreshments are provided courtesy of Allscripts.

As F# became a first class language in Visual Studio 2010, it has gain popularity amount the industry and academic community. In this talk, we will first look at the F# value propositions, through the themes of simplicity, economics and programmer satisfaction. We'll also take a look at current industry adoptions, who uses F#, why, and what they gain from it.

The majority of the talk will be more technical and look at the more innovative aspects of F# that help to simplify programming.

Jack Hu is a Software Designer Engineer in Test as Microsoft Visual Studio, F# Team. He participated in design and development of Project Designer, VB.net LinQ, VB.net XML literal, Debugging, and VS2010 WPF editor. He has a Master degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Saurabh Jain is a Senior Software Engineer working in Visual Studio IDE Platform team. He has worked every release on Visual Studio since Visual Studio .NET. For Visual Studio 2010, Saurabh worked in Visual Studio extensibility team, focusing on the extension development and deployment experience. Saurabh has a bachelor degree in Computer Science from IIT Bombay.
